About Makarska

The city of Makarska developed around a natural harbour protected by the picturesque peninsula Sveti Petar and cape Osejava. It is the biggest and only harbour of its kind between the delta of the rivers Cetina and Neretva. It is a secure shelter and refuge during bad weather, once for sailors, pirates and traders, today for tourist yachts, yachtsmen and excursion boats.

The sand and pebble beach the city has been known for is almost 2 km long. Along the promenades surrounded by pines are different tourist attractions, comfortable hotels, restaurants with gastronomic specialities, and lots of fun for children and adults. Makarska is situated at the foot of the Biokovo mountain range (1762 m), which protects the city from the continental climate,

with lush Mediterranean vegetation, a mild winter, and long and warm summers with the refreshing wind Mistral/Maestral. There are more than 2750 hours of sun per year, with temperatures of more than 20 o C from June to September. The transparent sea has a temperature of above 20 o C from June to October.
